About Mary Solarz

Mary Solarz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Maryland and earned a Master of Social Work in the Clinical Concentration from The University of Michigan, School of Social Work and has been practicing clinical counseling for many years.

Mary also has a Master of Arts in Applied Healing Arts from the Tai Sophia Institute which is now known as the Maryland University of Integrative Health. Her work experience includes working with women and children that have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse as well as working in a general counseling program and a special education setting with students that had various disabilities and diagnoses.

Mary is a trauma informed therapist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of situational stressors, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, grief/loss and is happy to help you today with any of your mental health care concerns.

She has over 30 years of experience helping clients with ADHD and autism. Mary provides a variety of therapy models including person centered, solution focused and psychodynamic approaches in therapy, as well as utilizing strength based and evidenced-based practices including DBT/CBT, mind body connection, meditation, and wellness practices.

She also focuses on building self-esteem, social skills, problem solving skills, developing healthy relationships, and coping strategies for emotional regulation.

Mary is dedicated, empathic, culturally sensitive, and passionate in encouraging and collaborating with people to make meaningful changes, by honoring their strengths and inner wisdom and providing a safe space to share their concerns, challenges, and experiences.

She individualizes her approach to meet client's needs and promotes conversation and dialogue that enhances possibilities of everyday living. Mary brings creativity, humor and compassion into the therapeutic relationship and believes in the power of positive thinking, gratitude, and designing daily practices that promote grounding, deep listening, partnership, and effective action.
